At AppliediT, we are part of OptimCPD, an experimental development project within the Connected Industry 4.0 initiative, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism.

The project addresses one of the main challenges facing today’s data centres: the efficient management of water and energy in cooling systems, a critical aspect for both the sustainability and competitiveness of these digital infrastructures.

OptimCPD, Digital platform for the optimisation and improvement of data centre (DCD) cooling systems

  • Project Type: Experimental development.
  • Initiative funded by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism as part of the programme to support business incubators in order to contribute to improving the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises.
  • Reference: AEI-010500-2025-40.
  • Participating entities: Catalan Water Partnership, Inypsa CW Infraestructures, Aventec, Disibeint Electronic, AppliediT, onTech Innovation. Coordinated by CWP.
  • Objective: OptimCPD aims to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of water infrastructures used in data centres (DCs), which are very energy- and water-intensive infrastructures. To this end, it proposes to develop, implement and validate, in a real environment and in an integrated manner, advanced technologies for the optimised and efficient management of water and energy consumption in DPCs, such as real-time monitoring and control systems for the intelligent management of the water cycle in DPC cooling systems..

AppliediT’s contribution: data, analysis and operational optimisation

At AppliediT, we contribute our expertise in industrial data integration, operational analysis and process optimisation, helping to improve PUE by reducing energy consumption, decreasing water use in evaporative and hybrid cooling systems, and correlating electrical and hydraulic data to maximise overall efficiency.

We also work to anticipate operational anomalies in order to reduce manual intervention and ensure secure management, in line with NIS2 and ISO/IEC 27001 cybersecurity requirements.

Towards a new generation of digital infrastructure

OptimCPD lays the foundation for a new generation of more efficient, sustainable and resilient data centres, ready to face growing energy pressure and water scarcity.

At AppliediT, we remain firmly committed to technological collaboration and the development of industrial solutions with a real and measurable impact on operational efficiency.
